After the Cameroon Minister of Communication and government spokesman; Issa Tchiroma announced the extradition of Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and other alleged secessionists, the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV), decided to interview some politicians and political analysts to know how they feel about the recent breakthrough in the fight against the secessionists and their divisive ideologies.

Pierre Baleguel Nkot ; the secretary general of UPC; was one of the politicians who was fortunate to be interviewed by CRTV.

This is what Pierre Baleguel Nkot told CRTV (without mincing words)...

Pierre Baleguel Nkot said his party the UPC (Union of the Peoples of Cameroon) has always been against any secessionist movement. He added that  “Now that those Cameroonians have been arrested and sent back to their country, we think that this situation can lead to calm in the North West and South West regions. If calm returns, we can engage in dialogue.”

As a reminder, UPC is the pioneer political party of Cameroon whose founding fathers fought relentlessly for the independence and reunification of Cameroon. Some of the founding fathers of the party like Ruben Um Nyobe, Felix Moumie, Ernest Quandie, Osende Afana and many other pioneer members of the party lose their lives in the fight for independence and reunification of Cameroon.

Ruben Um Nyobé was killed in the bush on 13 September 1958.Felix Moumié was poisoned in Geneva in October 1960, by the French secret service. The UPC continued its armed struggle until the arrest in August 1970 of Ernest Ouandié, who was shot six months later on 15 January 1971. Meanwhile, another leader of UPC, Osendé Afana, was killed in the south-east on 15 March 1966.

The above facts clearly suggest that Cameroon is the legacy left behind by the founding fathers of the UPC Party (at the cost of their lives). That is the legacy that  the UPC party militants, Issa Tchiroma, President Biya and other people who are against the seccessionist, are trying to protect.

The division of Cameroon will erase that legacy and render the blood shed by the founding fathers of this great nation useless.

Just like the seccessionists are willing to fight to the last drop of their blood to achieve their objective, the anti-separatists like Issa Tchiroma and Pierre Baleguel Nkot are also will to do the same.

On the 16th of August,2017, Issa Tchiroma gave a clear and comprehensible reason as to why he dislikes the Idea of Federalism or Independence.

This is what he said...

The founding fathers of our nation left a country at the cost of their blood, their sufferings, their lives, that they shaped this Cameroon, it is therefore an individual and collective responsibility to honour the memory of those who departed and to transmit this heritage.

He added that all Cameroonians, Christians, Muslims, and animists, English or French, from North to South, East to West are determined to fight until the last drop of their blood to keep the nation united, strong and prosperous.
